I have the habit of reading news papers ever since I was a kid. I used to look up mainly for cartoons ...when i was a kid..and slowly branched out to other news..
I think ever since I was in high school (8th grade) I have been reading 3 news papers every day..and cover to cover on some days...we used to get a kannada paper , english paper , one financial paper..The finance stuff has been making sense only since the past 5 - 6 years .
With Internet there is so much choice that I can't keep track of what to read!! I end up reading way too much (Indian news portals (atleast 4 of them) , bbc , NY times and occasional specific country's news sites.....even in the most tense times like an exam or a project deadline.. I still need to get my daily news dose!! Sometimes it is interesting to see how a particular piece of news is interpreted in various countries..It is amusing ..You should try it!!
I think time has come to reduce the time i spend for reading news!! I have way too much to read other than news...further I am thinking what I am doing with all the news that I read..i don't seem to use it at all..I lament at the political situation (in India) , sympathize with protestors protesting for a (right) cause, bad human conditions...express curiosity at what's gonna happen next (Economy?)...the games that people play... But this process is just limited to thought , it has never transformed into a positive action..I think we get way too much information than we need! I would like to enjoy the bliss of being ignorant..May be things will be better then!
